License File

Licenses  are contained in a license file. By default, the file is named lservrc.

For Standalone Licensed Applications

For standalone applications, the license file containing the license codes should be in the same directory as the licensed application.

For Network Licensed Applications

For network applications, the license file should be in the same directory as the License Manager. You can use a different file name (other than lservrc) through the environment variables, licensing library API functions, and command-line switches.

For Network Licensed Applications with Redundant License Managers

Redundant license codes (configured to be serviced by a pool of redundant License Managers) are contained in the redundant license configuration file, by default named lservrlf. License codes that will not be serviced by the redundant License Manager pool are in an lservrc file. A redundant License Manager will service licenses in both the lservrc and the lservrlf files, but the licenses in the lservrc file will be serviced only by the local License Manager and not the entire redundant License Manager pool.

NOTE   Sentinel RMS uses the lservrc file to store licenses. The license manager expects to receive the contents of this file in ASCII format. In the lservrc file, if the existing encoding is changed or characters outside the ASCII character set are included, it can lead to unidentified behavior with regard to operations on licenses.
